Nice and Lovely Red Velvet Cake to Bake at Home In this article, we will talk about the sweetest cake, which is often baked for various ceremonies.
Ingredients needed:
- Sugar
- All-purpose flour
- Cocoa powder
- Baking soda
- Salt
- Butter
- Egg
- Vegetable oil
Let's start baking:
Begin with the cake. In a large bowl, set a strainer on top and add the dry ingredients: 2 ½ cups of all-purpose flour (310g), 2 tsp of cocoa powder (16g), 1 tsp of baking soda, and 1 tsp of salt. Strain well, stir with a spoon, and set aside.
In another bowl, add ½ cup of butter (room temperature, 115g) and 300g of sugar, then beat until smooth. Break two eggs, adding them one by one while beating until combined. Add 1 cup of vegetable oil (200g) and continue beating until fully combined. Then, add 1 tsp of vinegar and 1 cup of buttermilk (240ml), beating until well mixed.
Gradually add the dry flour mixture to the liquid mixture, mixing after each addition until well combined. Then, add 2 tsp of vanilla extract and 1 tsp of red food coloring (or more if needed to achieve the desired color) and mix thoroughly.
Divide the mixture between two 8-inch (20cm) baking pans. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cakes cool for 10 minutes before removing them from the pans.
For the frosting, in a large bowl, add 2 cups of cream cheese (450g), 1 ½ cups of sugar powder (190g), and 1 tsp of vanilla extract. Beat until smooth. In another bowl, add 1 ¼ cups of heavy cream (300ml) and whip to stiff peaks. Gradually fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture, then set aside.
For assembling, cut off the upper layer of the cakes and set it aside for decoration. Place one cake on a flat plate, spread a layer of frosting on top, then add the second cake and cover all sides with the whipped cream cheese frosting. Use a flat plastic tool resembling a ruler to smooth the sides.
For decoration, use the cut-off cake layers. Cut 8-12 heart-shaped pieces using a heart-shaped baking mold and place them on top of the cake. Crumble the remaining cake pieces with your hands and press them onto the sides of the cake.
Now, your red velvet cake is ready
delicious and easy to bake at home.
Hope you enjoy it!
